It was the sixth edition of the Millennium Estoril Open that gathered the best athlets from 24 th April until 2nd May. It was finally Albert Ramos Vinolas, the Spanish player who won against the British Cameron Norrie 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. It was a New Era for this tennis event in Cascais Portugal that succeeded in the future of a Portuguese tournament on the ATP Tour calendar. It is a real tradition since 1990. The best date remains is in 2015, when the country started its new ATP 250 clay-court tournament at the Clube de Ténis do Estoril. The Municipality of Cascais brought its help by a partnership.
Some weeks before the event, the Portuguese tournament director told to the media. But things had been better than he tought.
We are going to have a great tournament and I can't be happier with the fact that, for the first time, we have five top 20 players on the entry list. Circumstances are well known and quite diffdicult, but for us it was adamant to make the tournament happen in 2021. Unfortunately, this year we won't be able to have sold out sessions like the ones we regularly had in the past. But we are working on the best way to take the action to millions of tennis fans around the world via tv and various digital platforms, so they can follow everything on and off the court and somehow feel the fragrance of this beautiful Cascais area where the tournament is staged.
